In the way that fettuccini is a type of pasta, the word "ramen" refers to the noodle, not a particular dish. Hence the beauty of it all. Hot broth, cold broth, no broth - pork, chicken, vegan - dress it up, dress it down, ramen comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.
